After nearly a year of product design, prototypes and testing in premier yoga studios on the West Coast, Pura Vita has developed an eco-sustainable yoga mat that generates instant buzz. This innovative yoga mat reclaims used bicycle inner tubes and weaves them together with polyester thread to create a high-end mat with features desired by most yoga students and instructors.

Pura Vita Yoga Mat is designed to provide unmatched grip and support even under extreme perspiration. It sticks to the ground and provides the yoga practitioner with great cushioning in conjunction with a reflexology experience. Butyl rubber, the material the tubes are originally made of, is FDA food grade safe and it's used in lipsticks, eye and facial make up, skin care and suntan products. By using the most favored waste management options we prevent toxic materials from being made and minimize the use of virgin materials.

The reclaimed rubber we employ - instead of PVC, virgin rubber, and textiles - allows us to reduce GHG emissions and to help communities by diverting waste that would end up in local landfills. Each sustainable yoga mat is carbon negative and will reduce an estimated 19.5 metric lbs of carbon dioxide equivalent in the atmosphere.
